Nanny's gone mad

According to the telegraph, the British Standards oranization has declared that fountain pens are now 'too risky' and should not be used by people under the age of fourteen.

This is absurd. I was encouraged (nay, required) to use fountain pens at school, at eleven, and woe betide us if we weren't used to the nib and blotted our exercise book with ink. I wonder what my old history teacher - the one who used to mark people down for mere posession of a biro - would make of this news?

Oh well, I suppose that still leaves the Rotring art pen...
